– Doing what is best for others even when it is difficult –
A trustworthy person is someone that others can trust. Trustworthiness is not built in an instant with a single action – it is built over time by demonstrating that you live in a way that can be trusted.
Here are some important characteristics of a trustworthy person:
- Dependable: Keep your word – do what you tell people you will do.
- Reliable: Speak truthfully – don’t say things that aren’t true. It is ok if you don’t know something, you don’t need to make anything up.
- Respectful: Don’t say bad or untrue things about others with our without them there.
- Keeping Confidence: Don’t share information that people have asked you not to share.
- Thoughtful: thinking of and doing what is best for others even if they haven’t asked.
God is the perfect example of someone who is trustworthy: He always does what He says, He never lies to us or lies about us, and He has continued to do what is best for us even before we knew Him or loved Him.
“A truthful witness saves lives, but a false witness is a traitor.“ – Proverbs 14:25 (NLT)
