My 10-year-old son has been using the Launch Pad. Initially, we thought it would be a nice “addition” to all the other daily devotional and organizational tools we already have. For the last few months, the Launch Pad somehow morphed into the “primary” daily devotional & organizational tool he utilizes. Unlike all the others, the Launch Pad stays open and remains on the desk (my kids have lost quite a few daily planners & devotional books). I am always looking for tools where we can get more Scripture incorporated into our daily activities. The Launch Pad provides a way to do so without overwhelming both my son and myself as well. Every day as soon as my son (Tony) sits down, he’s able to review the trait of the month and theme of the week. He and I have been able to do character studies based on the “Trait of the Month.” We write down one action a day he can implement to treat his brothers better. Then he can write down the other important activities he needs to accomplish for the day & week, as well as planning ahead for the month. After a while, I realized that he does not need a super fancy, multi-paged, multi-functional daily planner. The Launch Pad is focused and simple enough to provide what he needs (and what I need) to make planning, thought organization, character study, and daily devotional all done in a very non-threatening way. Furthermore, we’re also able to incorporate his younger brothers into our character studies and weekly Scripture memorization. We discuss it as a family over a meal and in car rides. A multi-functional tool that’s simple, non-threatening, and the whole family can use – it’s music to my ears! I really appreciate & value having the Launch Pad for our family. Thank you!
Utilizing the Launch Pad with my three children (7, 5 & 2 years old) has provided a practical way to help us (me included) learn more about the character traits of God and how to put them into practice in our lives on a daily basis. Having specific scripture with each theme is very helpful, and having your kiddos read it out loud and try to explain it to their younger siblings is fun and a great way for them to practice what they are learning. I feel better equipped as a mom with the Launch Pad tool, to help my children become more like Christ.
Our family has been using the Launching Ground products for the past 1.5 years. We love this tool and we use it daily. In our home, the calendar is in close view of our dining table where we enjoy breakfast and dinner most nights. This easy view of the calendar provides us the opportunity to have relaxed structure to our meal times to speak with our children about these important topics. Our two girls, aged 6 and 4, love when we discuss the trait of the month and theme of the week. We additionally share our ‘highs’ and ‘lows’ each day and relate our experiences to the spiritual themes we are exploring. Our children love this tool so much that if we forget to bring it up at meal times, the kids will remind my husband and me. Also, what is particularly exciting, is to flip the calendar for the following week on Sunday evening/Monday morning. It is so exciting to us as a family, that we never cheat or look ahead, because it would steal from the future excitement! I love the launchpad tools so much, that I have given them to other families as Christmas gifts last year. These other families have expressed the same excitement they feel upon finding out the new theme of the week with their kids. We’re grateful for this conversation starter, character development tool, and structure. We can see the positive effects of our children’s character growing – and ours, too!
