Debate the question: Is the glass half full or half empty?

– Fill a clear glass half way with milk or juice.
– Ask: Is the glass half full or half empty? Why?

Even though both are correct observations, it is important to focus on the good (I have delicious juice I can enjoy, we can afford to buy it, I can always fill with more later) rather than bad (that’s not enough, I want a full glass, I don’t want the left over from the bottom of the carton, I don’t want to share since there’s so little). When we take to God what we have (two fish and five loaves of bread, for example!), we can expect that He will make something GREAT out of what little we have to offer!

Do you think the boy who brought his meal to the disciples felt like his meal was too little to offer?  You can discuss how his optimistic decision had a dramatic effect.
